  • Thursday, March 01 - 7:30pm - An Evening of Cards will be hosted by Tom Galvin at his home, where there will be tables for bridge and canasta players. Hope Clukey is co-host.
    • We gather between 7 and 7:30pm. The games begin at 7:30. People planning on attending should call Tom at 919-844-3996 or email him at thomasfgalvin@gmail.com at least two days in advance to make reservations for the card game of their choice. Directions: From Crabtree Valley Mall, take Lead Mine Road 3 miles north (passing 4 traffic lights) to Wedgeland Drive. Turn left and drive 0.2 miles to 1609 Wedgeland Drive. It’s a brick house on the left.

  • Thursday, March 15 - Raleigh/Cary Dine Out at Sparians, 120 St Albans St, Raleigh, 919-803-3718, menu at www.sparians.com, under Bistro.

    • Sparians is a unique upscale bowling alley with a bistro featuring American favorite dishes. Dinner specials are $10-15. Thursday is ladies’ night with drink specials for all ($5 select martinis, $5 glass of wine, $3 beer) and half- price ladies’ bowling after 9pm. Meet at bar 6pm. Only 12 people can be seated at 630pm, and 12 people at 7pm. Additional people may come but probably will not be seated with the group. No cover for Craig Woolard Band performing 8-11pm.   • Saturday, March 24 - Spring Fling Semi-Formal Dance, Jones Center, Apex

    • Don’t miss our first semi-formal dance of the year! It will be a fun night of dancing to a live band, seeing old friends and meeting new ones in a smoke-free, alcohol-free setting. There are usually about 100 people at the semi-formal dances. Unlike the weekly dances, former club members who are now married are invited to attend the semi-formal dances with their spouses. All levels of dancing ability are welcome, and you don’t have to bring a partner. Non-dancers are welcome, too! The Jones Center has a great wood dance floor, as well as plenty of tables and chairs around the room. The admission at the door ($10 for current members, $15 for guests) includes dancing to a variety of music provided by the band from 8:00-11:30 pm, and heavy hors d’oeuvres with beverages.

    • Ruby Tuesday features signature choices like Handcrafted Burgers and a Fresh Garden Bar They also offer pasta dishes, seafood, chicken, steaks and ribs. Most cocktails are $5. Meet at the bar at 6pm, dinner at 6:30pm. Ruby Tuesday is located in the Crossroads Shopping Center near the exit to the I-440 beltline.     Directions to Northbrook Country Club:
    From Glenwood Ave., turn on Leadmine Road (across from Crabtree Mall), then make an immediate right at the first traffic light from Leadmine Road onto North Hills Drive. Stay on North Hills Drive until you get to the traffic light at Northbrook Drive and just past the light (still on North Hills Dr.) on your left is the entrance to Northbrook Country Clubhouse.
