  • Saturday, July 03, - Picnic on the day before Independence Day, 4 pm (eat about 5:30pm) Organized by Jane Stuart.
    • Picnic on the day before Independence Day – Saturday, July 3, 4:00 pm This is a fun way to celebrate Independence Day--a day early--on Saturday, July 3rd! Meet in the picnic shelter behind the NC State University Club, starting at 4:00pm. We plan to eat about 5:30. Hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks will be provided by the club. Bring a lawn chair and a side dish to share. Please sign up at the dance and indicate the dish you plan to bring. You may also sign up on Meetup.com or contact Jane Stuart (919-785-1345; jstuart14@nc.rr.com) or Lewis Lemonds (919-740-3103; llemonds27613@yahoo.com). Directions: The University Club is at 4200 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh 27606, between the beltline (I-440) and the State Fairgrounds.  Drive around the right side of the building and follow the road to the shelter in the woods.

  • Wednesday, July 14, - Raleigh/Cary Dine Out at Carrabba's Italian Grill, 1148 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, 27511, (919) 467-9901, www.carrabbas.com/restaurant/locations/NC/Cary/Cary/. We will meet there at 6:00 pm and order dinner at 6:30 pm.

  • Wednesday, July 21st – Chapel Hill/Durham Dine Out and Annual Crazy T-shirt Contest at the Bennett Point Grill, 4625 Hillsborough Road, Durham 27705, 919-382-9431, http://www.bpgrill.com/.
    • This is just off I-85, as well as 15-501 and the Durham Freeway. Bring out that offbeat t-shirt you got on vacation for our Annual Crazy T-shirt Contest! Meet for social hour in the bar at 5:30 PM, and we will be seated to order at 6:30 PM.

    The Bennett Point Grill features multi-regional American cuisine, with entrees such as Pork Tenderloin, slow roasted, with bacon-cheddar mashed potatoes and veggies, $14; Angus Sirloin, grilled 8 oz., with fried onion rings, $16; Dixie Chicken & Grits, with smoked sausage, corn, sweet peppers and cheese grits, $12; Chicken and Shrimp Atlantis, with angel hair pasta and crabmeat cream sauce, $15; Low Country Flounder, with cole slaw and fries, $14.50; and several pasta dishes, $10.   • Sunday, July 25th – Beach Night (Shag and Line Dancing) at TJ’s Night Life, 5:00-8:00pm Free Admission.

    Everyone is invited to come out to TJ’s and enjoy Beach Night with DJ Jimmy Pearce. Admission is free, and you are not required to be a member of TJ’s for this event. They have Line Dancing with lessons at 5-6pm, followed by an open dance floor for Shag and Line Dancing. This is a smoke-free club with a great wood dance floor, pool tables and cash bar. Directions: From the I-440 Beltline, take exit 11 and go north on US-1/Capital Blvd for 3.5 miles. Turn left on E. Millbrook Rd and take the 1st right onto Signet Drive. Turn left at Leigh Drive and TJ’s is on your immediate right. If you are driving east on Millbrook Road, you would turn left on Green Road and then take the 1st right onto Leigh Drive; TJ’s will be on your left.     Directions to Northbrook Country Club:
    From Glenwood Ave., turn on Leadmine Road (across from Crabtree Mall), then make an immediate right at the first traffic light from Leadmine Road onto North Hills Drive. Stay on North Hills Drive until you get to the traffic light at Northbrook Drive and just past the light (still on North Hills Dr.) on your left is the entrance to Northbrook Country Clubhouse.
